Coming of Darkness

It has been a crazy few days! This weekend was SNHU’s 48 hour game jam and I participated with my faithful team, Massive Hawk. We finished yet another game that we called “Coming of Darkness” featuring a girl who is trying to protect her town from a massive eldritch monster. Here are some of the architectural models I made for it.

Wrath Weekly

3/18/15 [9:32: PM]

Today I finished working on part 2 of the 7 Deadly Sins magazine cover assignment. This time I chose Wrath. I decided to go for something intimidating and deadly but also kept it simple and, like the other cover, let your imagination fill in some of the gaps.

3DsMax Render Practice

3/16/15 [10:27AM]

I felt like it was time to get myself back into rendering, this time in 3dsMax. Thanks to the help of a few YouTube tutorials I was able to learn very quickly and came out this cool render using the MentalRay renderer. I’m so glad to have this skill in 3dsMax now and look forward to the renders to come.

Gluttony Magazine

As well as game development classes, I am also taking graphic design classes. In one of these classes I am working with Photoshop, one of the assignments was to create a magazine cover for one of the 7 deadly sins. Here is the result.

CHAPPiE Sculpt

Spring break is over and it is time to get back to work! After finally shaking yet another cold, here are the results of this week. I was very excited about the movie CHAPPiE when this project was assigned so I decided to sculpt him in ZBrush. I am still learning how to texture a little more effectively but I am happy with the shape and gained a lot of knowledge about subtools and the Clip Curve tool.

Death is Useful

Wow, yesterday was super busy. I’m sorry I didn’t post any updates but the Massive Hawk team was hard at work creating a brand new game that came out pretty well. The topic for the 9 hour jam was “Death is Useful” and after 9 hours of work Massive Hawk came up with Grim’s Chores. This game is similar to that of Dumb Ways to Die or Wario Ware where there are a lot of little games that you have to succeed in in order to keep playing. In this game you are Death (the grim reaper) and you have to make yourself useful and help people with various tasks, fail and there are fatal consequences. I’ve posted some screenshots below and hopefully you’ll be able to download it for your own mobile device.

GAM 303 Broken Pillar

I am finally recovering from my illness which is nice but not a whole lot has been done this week. I did, however, finish a broken pillar for my game 305 class which I put below. Also I am sitting in the game lab at the university awaiting the 9 hour jam that my team is hosting! Looking forward to putting a whole new game together, get ready for updates!

Finished Toothless Project

After my weekend of travel and catching a bug I finished my Toothless project for my Creature Creation class. I’m super proud of the turn out! It really didn’t look like Toothless until I added the eyes and tail. Now there is no doubt that this is the snuggley Night Fury with the retractable teeth.

GAM 303 Treasure Chest

Although I was busy and traveling yesterday I thought I would show a little bit of progress with the project for my GAM 305 Class that I am taking at Southern New Hampshire University. The class is simply a game development class where the whole class contributes to create a shipped title. I was put in charge of the art team. Here is the treasure chest that we finished yesterday. I modeled the chest itself and the texture was done by my classmate and art team member Amanda.

Filing Cabinet

Just finished a filing cabinet for Project A! Take a look at it below. It’s nothing special but it’s super low poly. Hopefully we can use these to stack on top of each other or just use them on their own in an office environment, either way is fine by me. This did not take me long at all, I think I started and finished it in an hour. I just realized that this is the 3rd post and I have done nothing but gray pictures and objects… how dull. More colorful stuff to come? I hope so.
